ORKES GUMARANG - KAMPUNG NAN DJAUH DI MATA

Here's an album from Orkes Gumarang. These guys started in the 50's and were active untill the 70's and they pioneered a whole new genre called Sumatran Mambo. They took the stuff that Perez Prado was putting out and mixed it up with their own Minangkabau (the area around Padang in West-Sumatera) traditional songs.... Beautiful, beautiful music that was taken up by the likes of the great Oslan Husein....

MAT BITEL - PROMO ALBUM

Here's a collector's item and a very rare one at that, the promo-album (for radio stations) from the Mat Mitle band from Bandung, active in the 80's and they still perform from time to time... This only came out as a cassette and even those are quiet rare now adays, I've posted a copy from a cassette copy once here from this album... As you can guess from their name they were heavily influenced by The Beatles, but these are all own songs and this is a pretty good album, some psychedelics sprinkled here and there, and yes all very Beatle like. This is a pretty good album and very, very hard to find....
