Treasures found by an expat living in Indonesia
I'm hoping these musical offerings can beguile me from contemplating how my country just made the most repulsive human being in the universe their President.Thank you.
:)Well, there's some pretty cool stuff to listen to :)I have to think HARD about how to answer your comment.... Maybe I should start by saying that I have been scratching my head for months, wondering how, especially after what happened with Bernie, how Jill Stein ended up with only a few % of the total vote. A woman who was arrested at Standing Rock not that long ago, a woman who would've wiped the floor with both Trump and Clinton if they would've let her join the debates....Donald would NOT have gotten my vote. And Clinton would never, never, never had gotten my vote, NEVER, no way would I have voted for Hillary "We Came, We Saw, He Died Muahahahaha Clinton, gloating over the ass-raped with knives death of Muammar Gadafi who, to be sure was not without fault, but who presided over the most affluent country in the region (and was a US ally to boot), where people had free education and health care, and look at the place now, look at bloody Syria, look at Irak, I have so much pent up anger in me over all this, it's hard to put it into words....Read The Great War For Civilization by Robert Fisk and be as horrified as I was when reading it. Not many books make me cry. This book did, and more than once....https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/52142.The_Great_War_for_CivilisationThis voting for the "lesser evil", don't forget, I've been living in Indonesia for the last 20 years and for the past 18 years I have seen nothing else, president after president breaking their promises and I see poverty and misery on a scale that is hard to explain, every now and then I do some voluntary work for handicapped kids all over Java, I have seen stuff that nobody should see, I've been to area's where people are forced to live in conditions that you have to see and experience yourself to understand, like I said, there is A LOT of pent up anger in me....Anyway... Trump... Donald Trump...Hard to say what will happen really, when I see him surrounding himself with folks like Newt Gingrich and all these right wing lobbyists I'm thinking, ok, here we go, you're not going to drain a puddle, let alone a swamp, you're going to break every promise that you made, just like every other president that sat in that White House before you since the last... shit... how many years? decennia???We can only hope and hope for the best....It's all a con-game, that's how I look upon it, and I have been looking upon it like this since at least the middle 80's, back when I was joining campaigns against nuclear weapons coming to Holland, demonstrating against the death squads in El Salvador, all sorts of stuff.... Reading loads of books from Philip K. Dick and Robert Anton Wilson (not to mention Vonnegut, Bukowski and many others) had something to do with it too I guess and I sure hope you don't mind me saying this, but you guys, in the good ol' USA will never get out of this quagmire until you all start voting for a third, independent party en masse....One can only hope.....I could go on and on, really I could fill pages here but I won't....
One more thing though....One of my bigger regrets about this election is that we didn't have Hunter S. Thompson to report on it, I can't even imagine how the good old doctor would've written about it all....
Hunter would have wanted to die at the sight of Donald Trump becoming President.
Well, he would've torn him another asshole, that's for sure :) And no doubt about it, this is going to be another terrible presidency, like I said, you can see it by the folks he's surrounding himself with now, I mean, Bolton??? Giuliani???And here's a bit of Hunter:MH: Clinton had wanted to be JFK. That's who he talked about in his campaigns.HST: You tell Mr. Bill there's a reason that Jack Kennedy was shot, and he hasn't been. There's a very good reason that Jack Kennedy was shot, and Clinton hasn't been.MH: What's that?HST: There's no reason to shoot Clinton. They didn't hesitate when Kennedy seemed to be going against them. They shot him. And they shot Bobby.
