I should probably give you a warning before you download this, this is an extremely crazy, hard-core jaipong cassette and I take no responsibility for what might happen when you start playing this music, you might hurt yourself dancing and jumping spontaneously, so BEWARE, you have been warned!!!

  1. Your so funny, don't you know that? I love your short descriptions, esp. when it comes to Jaipongan. Can't wait to hear that - AND HURT MYSELF BY DANCING AND JUMPING with my kids. :)))

  2. Jaipong is an acquired taste, like uni at a sushi bar, but with this offering I finally get it. I am now into Jaipong.

I treasure all of my addictions. Thank you.

  3. I'm totally and I mean totally addicted to jaipong, it really has become my favorite music, it does the same to me as Nigerian fuji music, straight to the heart... There's quiet a few styles in it and as you've probably noticed i'm mostly going for the totally wild stuff :) Next week there will be a huge Jugala event in Bandung, really looking forward to it, lots of the old timers will come and I hope to meet many of them :)

  4. But I do get what you're saying, it is an acquired taste for sure, living in a small village in the mountains outside Bandung, it's still wildly popular here... Not so in the cities I'm afraid and most Indonesian youngsters look a bit down on it I've noticed, but when I look at my uploads I can see what is downloaded the most and it's alwayys the jaipongan cassettes that get the most downloads, sometimes the downloads go into the tens of thousands, pretty amazing, and I think more and more people are getting it now.... Lastoctober I did a night in Holland and when I started playing hard-core jaipong people just went wild, they didn't know the music, had no idea what to do or how to dance to it but after my wife and an Indonesian friend of ours started dancing to it, the whole crowd just went wild, really amazing to see that happening :)
