Three pictures from a party in a village, the first one a ketuk tilu orchestra, the second one looks like a reog performance and the third one is tari topeng (masked dance)..... The fourth picture is a wayang show and all these photographs are from the early 1960's.....

ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS
Time for some more original photographs.... I find these photographs on second hand markets while hunting for tapes and records, I almost never know when or where they were taken or who's in them and when they catch my eye I want them, many of them are from the 40's, 50's, 60's and I sit and look at them, wondering, "who are you? what happened with you? how did you get through all those crazy years here in Indonesia?
These four photographs.... Looks like they were shooting a movie maybe? Looks like late 60's, early 70's.....

On the back it's written "Me and the kids, Lady and Darja"... And there's a date, 1 - 7 - 50 .....

JAIPONG LIVE RECORDINGS
I've got these recordings from a guy who works as a sound man at happenings, weddings, parties etc. and he recorded them at different locations at jaipong parties in villages around Bandung, Karawang and Subang. I don't know the artists but these are all recent recordings.... All recorded directly from the soundboard...

ELLY NIEMAN & RIKKERT ZUIDERVELD - DE DRAAD VAN ARIADNE
So after Boudewijn de Groot's album another Dutch hippie album :) Elly Nieman actually sung on the Meester Prikkebeen song from Boudewijn de Groot and in Holland they're simply known as Elly & Rikkert.... This album came out in 1971 and it's a total DIY album and there's one song on it that became a huge hit in Holland, ""De Kaugomballenboom" (The chewing gum ball tree)... In 1976 they became devote Christians, they're still together, still active and they released tons of albums, mostly Christian songs and songs for kids.... And it was actually the father of a friend of mine who introduced them to each other, back in 1966....

Back when I was a little kid, at home, the radio was always on in the day time, tv didn't start till the afternoon and there were only 3 channels or so. And songs from this album were always on the radio back then, Boudewijn de Groot's 1968 album Picknick.....

Not exactly sure what this cassette is all about, something to do with a school in Bandung and all these big shot government officials are mentioned, but there's some very nice Pop Sunda on this one and it starts with some lovely traditional music....
