After graduating from high school, she started singing folk songs after joining a bus company (later Miyagi Kotsu), where she worked, and in 1980 she won a folk song competition in the north-east of Japan.

Just before his record debut, he was a bus driver for Miyagi Kotsu and a farmer.

In 1982, she made her debut with ‘Celebration Boat(This Song)’, a song made in a tie-up with Crown Records to celebrate the 300th broadcast of the popular radio programme ‘Min'yo de Gokigen’ on Tohoku Broadcasting Co. The record company's advertising copy read ‘Yay! Rick’ and mismatched copy was written. At first, the record company did not advertise the song at all, but it was supported by local cable broadcasts and sung at karaoke, which was popular at the time, and spread from Sendai to Tohoku and then to Tokyo, spreading throughout the country over the next two and a half years. It became a hit as an enka sung at weddings , and in the spring of 1987 sales exceeded one million copies [1], making it a million-seller in the Japanese record industry for a long time. In addition to record shops, the song was also sold at wedding halls , so it is believed that there are quite a few sales that Oricon is not aware of . In addition, it became the most sung song in NHK's Nodo Jiman competition in the first half of 1986, and in the amount of copyright royalty distribution by the Japan Music Copyright Association (JASRAC) in 1986, it was ranked second in Japan after ‘Koi ni Ouchita’ .

Since then, she has continued to sing mainly enka (traditional Japanese folk songs) and is still active as an exclusive singer for Nippon Crown while farming.
