Excellent album from the Tokyo Cuban Boys, very percussion driven, says on discogs (and some other sites) that this album came out in 1977 and that it's a "Rare Japanese pressing Direct Cutting recording Audiophile Latin LP". Might be rare, but it's going for pretty cheap prices there... Xavier Cugat did a drawing for the back-cover.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!

Nice album from a band called The Baby Face Group, all heavy hitters in the music industry at the time, Enteng Tanamal, Jopi Item, Albert Sumlang, Benny Mustafa, Barmono and Tanti Josepha... Some Santana-esque songs, some funky jazzy tracks, some balads and some songs that go back to those early 60's Koes Bersaudara times.... There's no date on the album but I would say, very early 70's.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!

BRIGADIER GENERAL R. PIRNGADIE & ORKES TETAP SEGAR - SONGS FROM THE MINAHASA IN KRONTJONG BEAT

Brigadier General R. Pirngadie is such a fascinating person.... He took krontjong music, which is usually played by a small group of musicians, and with a huge orchestra, the Tetap Segar Orchestra and Chorus and some of the top singers in Indonesia at the time into something completely different.... I would call it exotica music, or maybe krontjong exotica... He took his orchestra and choir to the New York World's Fair in 1964 and blew the minds of the audience... From what I understand he started the Evergreen Records label himself and he started putting out one amazing album after another, most of these albums were pressed in Japan.... This album, Songs From The Minahasa In Krontjong Beat is a great example of the musical magic he managed to conjure... With Rita Zahara, Sri Rejekti, Isnarti and M. Rivany singing....
