In 1957 Robert Mitchum was filming in Trinidad and soaking up the local talent like Mighty Sparrow and Lord Melody and loving it and in no time he was singing Calypso in local pubs there. When he made it back to the States he contacted singer-songwriter Johnny Mercer with the idea of doing a Calypso album and Mercer referred him to Capitol Records and this lovely album is the result of that.... He even sings in the Caribbean accent or at least tries to. A great album!
