Mei Tai was born in Taiwan, Taoyuan on February 23, 1939. Her family were farmers in the hills. In 1956 she was an assistant at the People radio station. In 1957, she launched her singing career, and in 1960 entered the music scene in Taipei. She became one of the most popular singers in Taiwan, releasing over 40 albums. 14 of them made in her first 2 years of recording, between 1963 and 1965. This one is "Chasing" from 1968. She died January 29, 2018.

The 追(zhuī) means chase. This is simply applying the Chinese to the sounds heard. The opening lyrics are a scene of red dragonflies flying on the edge of a village at dusk. ‘zhuī zhuī’ is the Japanese onomatopoeia for dragonfly flight.
