The story describes how in the Snake Mountain in Guangxi, there are three giant snakes - Snake Prince (Dillon), Black Snake (Wu Hangsheng) and Yellow Snake (Wang Yu). One night, the three snakes take human form and sing and dance with the men and women of a Miao village, and the Snake Prince falls in love with a woman from the village, Heiqin (Lin Zhenqi). After a drought in the village, the Snake Prince agrees to bring water into the village, but only on the condition that he marries Heiqin as his wife. The people of the village want to solve the drought, but they can't bear to see Heiqin die. They agreed to the marriage under false pretences and then repudiated the marriage after the drought was over. When the Snake Prince was angry, the snakes besieged the Miao village, but Heiqin, who had a deep sense of righteousness, offered her life to calm down the incident. After the marriage, she and the Snake Prince lived happily in the Snake Mountain. Missing her family, Heiqin sent a letter home. Afterwards, the first sister went crazy because of her greed for money, and the second sister was bitten to death by the Snake Prince for killing the child of the Snake Prince and Heiqin. As a result, the people of the Miao village organised to burn the Snake Mountain. The story ends with the killing of the Snake Prince and the martyrdom of Heiqin.
