  1. and she was....
Born in Yao, Osaka. Graduated from Osaka Prefectural Yao High School. Born the only daughter of a father who enjoyed chanting and a mother who loved Japanese dance [1]. When she was in primary school, she asked her parents for lessons at a singing school for nearly 10 years. At the time, Otsuki herself did not want to be a singer, but the singing school had mailed demo tapes of the students to King Records, who scouted her for a test and invited her to Tokyo, where she moved to Tokyo at the end of March, recorded in early April and made her debut in June. I thought, ‘It's so easy to be a singer’ at the time.’ .

She made her debut in 1964 with ‘Haha Koi Shamisen’ (Mother's Love Shamisen). He spent his days touring the country in front of Mitsuhashi Michiya and Kasuga Hachiro. During his busy period, he had a schedule of 25 days a month, but ‘I enjoyed every day singing in front of large audiences and having them applaud me.’ She says.

Twenty years after her debut, at the age of 37, she had a hit with Onna no Minato (Port of Woman). She made her first appearance at the 37th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (1986). At the 37th Kohaku, Otsuki's first Kohaku appearance, Kiyoko Suizenji, who debuted the same year, made her 22nd appearance and encouraged Otsuki, who appeared on the Kohaku cypress stage 22 years after her debut. The production staff, who together produced hits at the time, continue to support Otsuki to this day.

Miyako Otsuki - Sings Nostalgic Hits Vol.3
Why did she release "Oldies Albums"?
Please read the comment , she didn't have a hit songs, then.
Another question: how can a singer with ‘no hits’ release an album? Because there is a very strong community where she comes from.
