  1. 潮剧 - 百年好合、万寿无疆(1969)
Teochew Opera - Hundred Years of Happiness, Ten Thousand Years of Longevity(1969)

In the 1960s, Chan Chor Wai was an iconic figure in Teochew theatre, especially to the new generation of Teochewers in Ma. With the influence of Hong Kong's black-and-white Cantonese Opera films, Teochew Opera moved from the theatre to the medium of film and television, and Ma and Singapore became the largest Teochew Opera film audience. At that time, Wen Wu Sheng Ren Jianhui performed in a large number of Cantonese Opera films, and appointed Chan Chor-hui to dub her voice in a Teochew accent, which led to her becoming known as the ‘Teochew Opera Ren Jianhui’ to the audience. Tang Tesheng's last Cantonese opera work, ‘The Red Plum Pavilion’, adapted from a Ming Dynasty text, led to the 1959 stage version of ‘The Red Plum Tale of a Second Life’. Unfortunately, on the night of the premiere, Tang Tesheng suffered a stroke and died, too late to bring Ren Bai's entwined renditions to the big screen. Five years later, Zhang Muzin, the scriptwriter of the new Tin Choi Teochew Opera, seized on the afterglow of the master's legacy and recruited Chen Chor-hui and Chen Lili to portray Pei Yu and Li Huiniang's ghostly love between the yin and the yang. The result was that the film, upon its release, opened up a red-hot market for Teochew Opera, and even non-Teochew Opera fans clamoured for a glimpse of the masterpiece that Tang Tesheng had transplanted from Cantonese Opera into Teochew Opera, and the story of the Red Plum was again and again established Chen Chor-hui as the ‘Teochew Opera's Ren Jian-hui’. The fixed team, such as scriptwriter and composer Zhang Mu Jin, flower girl Zeng Shan Feng, Fang Qiao Yu, Chen Bixia, Chen Lili, etc., followed the professional troupe's business model to draw in the masses, and this kind of mature longevity of the troupe's operation is something that the Teochew Opera troupes in the Southeast Asia region can only look up to, but can never be surpassed.
