Willy Derby was a Dutch singer, very popular in the 20's, 30's and 40's. He toured Indonesia when it was still a Dutch colony, very popular there in those days.... In the Second World War he was thrown in jail twice by the nazi's who were not happy with some of his songs. He died from a heart attack in 1944....
It must have been 1994, maybe 1995, and I was working in cafe The Rhythm in my city of birth, Rotterdam. I was cleaning tables, bouncing and selling hash and weed on the side.... In comes this very tall, very freaky American dude, nice fellow and he bought a shit load of hash and weed. Only after he left did I find out that he was in fact Helios Creed, the old guitar player from Chrome. I wish I'd known when he was in the cafe, I would've given him a big block of hash for free, back then I was already a long time fan of Chrome!!!!
Together with Damon Edge, Helios Creed was playing in Chrome, an incredible band, light years ahead of their time and I used to have many albums from them. I only have two albums left now, this album Red Exposure and their Half Machine Lip Moves album....
Helios is still very active, performing, recording and remastering lots of old unreleased Chrome material..... Damon Edge sadly passed away years ago....
The Buddy Odor Stop was a Dutch band fronted by Hans Vanderburg, he was also in Dutch band Gruppo Sportivo.... I've got the two first Gruppo Sportivo albums and will post them soon....
Brothers Like Outlaw were a British hip hop crew active in the early 90's and here's a nice funky ep from them. I've got the full cd also somewhere, might post it too....
A while ago I put some music here from The Bommel Band, the band fronted by my good friend Arjan van Bommel.... In that band the guitar is played by another very good friend of mine, Marko van der Horst. Me, Bommel and Marko, we go way back, we used to work together in the legendary Rhythm Cafe in Rotterdam and me and Marko, we worked together in 1995, selling South-American clothing at pop festivals in Germany and Denmark, lots and lots of adventures, loads of fun....
Marko also played guitar for a while in this band, Come To C. from Rotterdam and here's their promo cd from a few years ago and it's pretty good actually.... (Come And See is one of my favorite war movies, but that's a whole other topic...)

And this is me and Marko working, watching the girls at Roskilde Festival, 1995....
