The jaipong genre had it's heyday in the 80's, Gugum Gumbira and his Jugala Group were cranking out one great tape after the other and many, many acts were doing the same thing. One group that stands out, for me anyway, is the Karawang Group with the great kendang player Ujang Be'i, those guys were just amazing, always experimenting, they developed the short-lived but great sub-genre break-pong which was influenced by early hip hop music and break-dancing and they were putting out cassettes like this one, hard-core jaipong, raw as shit.... Man oh man, this one is just fantastic!!!!
