THE CRABS - PENGANTIN REMADJA
So, somewhere in the very early 70's one of the kids of dictator Suharto, Bambang Tri (full name Harto Bambang Trihatmodjo Suharto) wanted to be a pop star. He got some friends and started the band The Crabs, got some of the top producers/musicians of that time, Band 4 Nada members A. Ryanto, Harry Toos and Is Haryanto with singer Broery Marantika and Harry S. (Harry Sabar?) and they put out, as far as I know, 2 albums (and a few songs on another album with some other bands).... Must've been very, very early 70's because the songs are all in the old spelling.... From what I understand Bambang Tri started out as the bass player in the band but he got replaced by Frieke Supit and he ended up being the "leader of the band" not really playing anything....
Mostly standard pop songs but there are two stand out tracks on this one, a fantastic track called Tjinta Sedjati, which sounds like some great Italo disco and the incredibly hilarious song Surat Romie, where a guy reads out his break-up letter (spoken by actor/politician Sophan Sophian) to his girlfriend, really, it's hilarious, "I'm not running away from you, tomorrow the sun will come up and shine again for you I'm sure" and meanwhile the girl is crying hysterically all through the track, Sophan Sophian's wife, actress Widyawati is also on the album but I'm not sure if she's the girl crying here....

Enjoy!
