EDDIE HENDERSON - REALIZATION
Here's trumpet player Eddie Henderson's fantastic first album, Realization. Came out in 1973 and here's the line-up:
Eddie Henderson - trumpet, flugelhorn, cornet
Bennie Maupin - bass clarinet, flute, alto flute, tenor saxophone
Herbie Hancock - electric piano
Patrick Gleeson - synthesizer, organ
Buster Williams - bass, electric bass
Billy Hart - drums, percussion
Lenny White - drums
You almost can't mention this album without mentioning Miles Davis, and listening to this album, I'm taken back to the time that I got introduced to Miles, I even know what year it was, 1985, I was 20 years of age, just started living by myself and I was selling hash and weed at home, always very busy, often great parties, and one of my customers was a young man called Tikkie. Tikkie was a fabulous drummer, he was playing in Rotterdam post punk band The Foreign Bodies but jazz was his real love. I was still playing drums in bands too back then and we would go see performances of that drum wonder, Han Bennink together and we would walk out blown away.... Now when I say that Tikkie was a customer, he never paid for his gear, he would give me cassettes and I would give him weed and hash and it was in this way that I was introduced to the music of Miles Davis, Jack DeJohnette, Ernst Reijseger and much, much more.... Haven't thought about Tikkie in a long time, haven't seen him since the 80's, wondering what happened with him....
I have to leave out the (very short) fourth track because there's a deep scratch making it impossible to record.....

Enjoy!
