LES BAXTER - PORTS OF PLEASURE

Here's Les Baxter's incredible 1957 exotica album Ports Of Pleasure and this came out one year before Martin Denny came out with his Exotica album and the genre got it's name. Call it pre-exotica :) Absolutely amazing album and this is the original 1957 pressing in mint condition....

Enjoy!

  1. Wonderful albums you post here, Henk - thanks a lot!

Les Baxter's blueprint for what became 'Exotica' is "Le Sacre du Sauvage (Ritual of the Savage)" and it's from 1951:

  3. Insha'allah! :)

I bought a re-issue LP with 10 tracks, not the original 10" EP with 8. And not for 60 Euro's, but for a tenth of that. This and Yma Sumac's debut "Voice of the Xtabay" (1950, w/ Baxter, too) are my favorite Exotica albums. :)
