Henk - Is the singer here Komala Sari or Komalasari. I'm also confused about the 'oom' i thought that meant uncle which doesn't make sense. My knowledge of indonesian is pretty limited, hoping you can help me
Well, uncle is actually "Om" (and Oom in Dutch), Oom is a name here, and they always wrote the names of artists different, it can be quiet confusing, it often had to do with being under contract with one record company, artists would only get paid once for an album, no royalties, and pretty bad pay too, virtual slave contracts often, so they would also record for other companies and then they would write their name different so they wouldn't get into legal trouble... Besides that, very often mistakes were made with the writing :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Henk, same story the world over for many musos, no royalties, bad contracts.
