I saw him too James White & the Blacks. Stunning. Still in my top ten. Hendrix opening for the Monkees I saw. Stones 72 in Mobile, Ala. Zep Houses of the Holy Tour. First Police tour in a tiny club, 2 shows a night, 6 bucks a show....which is what the Stones were, The Smiths kicked ass, Miles live was another world but James White held his own. Take a Chance on his box set. It shreds
That's some great concerts there :) My very first real concert was when I was 14, Van Halen in Amsterdam in 1979 when their first album just came out, blew me away, saw them many years later at a rock festival Germany, I was working there and I didn't like them at all, tired and boring with Sammy Hagar... Place was full with little girls that day, 12 to 14 year olds and I was like, what's happening??? Yeah, Bon Jovi is playing.... God it was awful... Forget what the other bands were I didn't like any of them until the last act....
Status Quo!!!!
Man I was jumping like crazy, finally some music!!! A beautiful redhead joined me and I had a great night with her in our tent... Went to visit her later when we were done with the festivals (Germany and Denmark we were selling clothes and stuff from South America) and that turned into total disaster, but that's another story as they say....
Seen a lot of great bands in my time, like Psychic tv, Einsturzende Neubauten, Han Bennink quite a few times and lots more but missed a lot too 'cause I was working so often, I'm still hurting, after all these years, from missing The Gang of Four, Metabolist, This Heat and Blurt....
Change into Chance ☺
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw him live in '81 it was still James White :) BEST concert I've seen, EVER. Period....
