They're not as big as they used to be, back in the days of the Suharto regime they were one of the few parties allowed to "compete" in the rubber stamped elections that always saw Suharto's political vehicle, the Golkar party, win.... They represent(ed) the "Islamic" vote.... Back then this was an enormous party that wielded a huge amount of power and influence, specially after the fall of Suharto....
