Brigadier General R. Pirngadie is such a fascinating person.... He took krontjong music, which is usually played by a small group of musicians, and with a huge orchestra, the Tetap Segar Orchestra and Chorus and some of the top singers in Indonesia at the time into something completely different.... I would call it exotica music, or maybe krontjong exotica... He took his orchestra and choir to the New York World's Fair in 1964 and blew the minds of the audience... From what I understand he started the Evergreen Records label himself and he started putting out one amazing album after another, most of these albums were pressed in Japan.... This album, Songs From The Minahasa In Krontjong Beat is a great example of the musical magic he managed to conjure... With Rita Zahara, Sri Rejekti, Isnarti and M. Rivany singing....
