There are a number of name designations.
Tzu Wei (also known as Tze Wei) was a famous Taiwanese singer during the 1960’s. She was born on November 13, 1930 and died on March 4, 1989 at age 58 from cancer.

In 1958, Ziwei joined the China Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), which was then the largest producer of national public and private radio programmes, without accepting the bidding of the five major private radio stations (Minben Radio, Minsheng Radio, Zhengsheng Radio, Huasheng Radio and Fengming Radio). This led to a collective boycott by Taiwan's private radio stations of songs sung by Ziwei.

In 1958, Mingfeng Records published Ziwei's song ‘Green Island Serenade’, which was recorded by CBC, with lyrics by Pan Yingjie and music by Zhou Lamping, but it did not become a hit right away. 1961 saw the launch of CBC's first live variety show, ‘Weekend with You’, which was hosted by Ziwei, and was broadcast live so that the audience could see the hosts through the glass windows, and the first day of the broadcast was very well received by the visitors. Because of her low education level, Ziwei worked hard to enrich herself and received more than 4,000 letters from listeners every week, and the programme was a big hit with the audience. When the programme was going well, there were objections within CBC to having a singer with mediocre academic qualifications hosting the programme. Wei Jingmeng, Director of the Information Bureau of the Executive Yuan at the time, stepped forward, arguing that Ziwei's talent was outstanding, the audience's response was enthusiastic, and her education had nothing to do with her ability, so she was allowed to keep the hosting job.

In 1961, Liao Qianyuan, the owner of Four Seas Records, spent a huge sum of money to record the song ‘Reminiscence’, which was sung by Ziwei, written by Yang Zhengwu, and composed by Zhou Lanping, as the main song of the record, and as the designated song for the singing contest of the CGC Radio Station, the song was played all day long and created a frenzy, which made Ziwei's voice popular all over the world. In the same year, Ziwei released Green Island Serenade, which established Ziwei's status in the singing industry.
