So, in the 1960's James Last was releasing albums on the Japanese market under his real name, which is Hans Last, and this is one of those albums, 'cept that this is a Taiwanese bootleg..... And I have to say, plenty of material if you're looking for breaks and samples :)

Enjoy!
Thanks Henk, Love that red vinyl. James Last had a very distinctive sound, esp in the brass section.
ReplyDeleteHis Voodoo Party album is pretty cool :)
ReplyDeleteAny chance of a re-up on Voodoo Party. According to an article in the Guardian "James Last made two unequivocally great albums: 1971’s Voodoo-Party and 1975’s Well Kept Secret, which was reissued in 2008 as James Last in Los Angeles.
ReplyDeleteOn Well-Kept Secret, Last seems to have made a great record deliberately. he recorded it in Los Angeles, audibly at great expense, with his band augmented by members of the Crusaders and Derek and the Dominos."
Yeah plaNNING to but gotta dig it up first
