I agree, and happy I'm living in Indonesia and not in Holland anymore, I think Europe will be going down terribly and most people living there, or at least most friends and family that I talk to have no idea about what is coming.... All I can hope for is that Indonesia will be spared the worst of it, I survived the riots in '98, was in the middle of those, stuck in Jakarta, an insane story and a miracle I got out alive, so I know, just a tiny little bit, how it is when society breaks down and mobs take over, it's a truly scary thing to go through..... Most people living Japan, or at least most friends and family that I talk to have no idea about what is coming.... Terribly the same. What you experienced in 1998 will soon happen to me. But I live in a village with a population of 7,000, when people here were self-sufficient, the population was 200, though.

I have to be honest, and for sure, I'm not an authority on all this stuff but I don't have a good feeling about Japan, but you, living in a small village, I think you will most probably be much better off then people living in the big cities, and that will be the case in most countries if things really do go wrong.... Again, I'm not an authority on this stuff but from the little bit I read about Japan is that they are very much together with the America Axis, like South Korea... The current "leadership" in America is biting off way more then they can chew, the corruption is beyond imagination.... And I'm so sick of these fake wars. Yes, I said it. Fake wars. Sure, people are dying. In huge numbers, but it's all orchestrated, Ukraine/Russia, Israel/Iran..... Fake.... The Palestinian genocide right now and the non reaction of the Arab "leadership".... It's all really shocking to me, just as the October 7 atrocities were shocking to me... I don't support any side, not any more. I identified as a "lefty" for most of my adult life. Not anymore. (Although there still is a "real" left that I do identify with, the left of people like Chris Hedges and maybe George Galloway).... But mostly.... those labels are meaningless now I think.... They were always meaningless in the Indonesian context I think and my hope is that Indonesia will continue it's core policy, non-aligned but with the new President coming in.... I have little hope for that, I really think he's the wrong person at the wrong time, let's just say that about that character.... On top of all this I have some serious private issues going on, family stuff, not here but in Holland that keeps me awake at night.... These are really insane times....

What it's loaded with is food.Only 10% of food for 120 million people is produced.Tokyo is Zero%. We are dependent on other countries for a lot of things, not just food. My village is also part of a metropolitan-type distribution system and everyone shops at supermarkets. Local products are for tourists. Urban and suburban areas do not have the means to do so, but there are ways to change thinking and survive in the country side. These are really insane times....Absolutely As I have mentioned before, just getting started. If you can't sleep at night, you don't have to. Ahhh... The Pop Group.... I'n a former life I had their albums.... Never saw them live but I did see their singer/frontman Mark Stewart with the Secret Mafia, they played super heavy dub, great concert, must've been in 1983 maybe 1984 which were some of the best years of my life really and a time where I saw many incredible concerts, Zazou Bikaye, Einsturzende Neubauten, The Birthday Party, Palais Schaumburg, The Executive Slacks, The Anti Group, Legendary Pink Dots, Material with Bill Laswell (or was that a bit later...hmmmh), Jah Wobble, Defunkt, Blane L. Reiniger, quite a few concerts from the amazing Han Bennink, Kiem, Die Haut, Nieuw Hip Stielen and so much more.... Still living with my parents, I had an amazingly cool room full with books and records and tapes, working, weed and hash, heavily into science fiction books, records and comic books from guys like Tardi, Corben, Milo Manera, Hugo Pratt, Enki Bilal, delving into the weirdness of writers like Paul Brunton, my dear friends Dick, Willem and John coming over almost every night and us getting stoned, many great adventures and concerts... That was in a small town called Krimpen A/D IJssel, just outside Rotterdam.... I moved out in 1985, back to the city where I was born, Rotterdam, but that's another story.... God, the 80's were truly amazing :) Philip K. Dick, Dan Simmons, Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Bukowski, Clifford D. Simak, Robert Sheckley, William Gibson, Keith Laumer, Fredric Brown.....
