Well, this Wednesday it will be Idul Fitri, the day Muslims all over the world celebrate the end of the Holy month of Ramadhan. Here in Indonesia, what they call Mudik has been going on for the last few days and will continue till it is Wednesday. Mudik is when millions and millions of people travel to the places where they were born to celebrate Idul Fitri with their families. I saw a report today that said that this years Mudik is breaking all previous records, some 129 million Indonesians traveling, by car, by motor, by train, by bus, it's a time of truly insane traffic jams....
Anyway, here's a cassette, celebrating the Idul Fitri holiday from the Tapanuli area in North Sumatera, lots of gambus music from H. Nur Asiah Jamil (when she was still going by the name Nurul Asiah), Orkes Gambus Al Jafar and Orkes El Surayya.... There's also some great gondang music on this cassette....
