ROTTERDAM COLLECTION

An album with punk, no-wave, new wave and other underground acts from Rotterdam, recorded during the winter of 1979/1980, produced by Martin v. d. Leer and Peter Graute., and this album really means a lot to me as I was part of the Rotterdam (punk) scene back in that time.... This is me in 1980, standing in front of a podium were various punk bands were playing (Bunker, Kotx, Debiele Eenheid and J. Dops Band) after we had a demonstration, walking through the centre of Rotterdam for a new place for concerts etc. after Kaasee, a place where punk concertts were held, and Eksit was closed down....

ORKES MELAYU BOB GELDOP - 20 NON STOP DANGDUT

So yeah, here's a non-stop dangdut cassette from Orkes Melayu Bob Geldop, and yes, they mean Bob Geldof, who, at the time this came out wasn't exactly very popular in Indonesia.... First, he called out President Suharto back in the 80's about not sending rice to parts of Afrika during a huge famine when he was involved with the whole Live Aid festival. Not everybody was amused here in Indonesia back then. Then Sir Boob demanded that Suharto crack down on the bootlegs of Live Aid tapes. Well, for some reason Suharto complied, and in typical Suharto style he didn't just do something about those bootlegs of Live Aid tapes, he crushed the whole underground cassette labels scene, all of them, and, so I've been told, overnight you couldn't get any music until the Internet came in.... I really like this one, Hiroshi Watanabe's Star Dust Orchestra, this came out in 1962, they play pretty standard jazz tunes but some songs they mix jazz music with traditional Japanese music, really very cool :) GET IT HERE Enjoy!

MARA RADIO: INTERVIEW TAN DESENG ABOUT TITIM FATIMAH

Here's an interview with the Maestro Tan Deseng about the great Sundanese sinden (female singer) Titim Fatimah with some incredible music, I think these are unreleased private recordings and listening to them.... in my mind at least, she truly was THE greatest of them all.... Tan Deseng knew Titim Fatimah very well, he produced most of her records and composed many of her songs. Truly, an amazing tape this.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!!!!
