ERHU SOLO CHINESE MUSIC (CLASSICS) SHEPHERD - QIN KOU - SANMENXIA
Well, our friend from Japan, Yoshio, said this (in the comments) about this record:
This Label is very important.
二胡獨奏集 國樂(古樂)牧人 泰腔 三門峡
Erhu Solo Chinese Music(Classics) Shepherd・Qin Kou・Sanmenxia
Qin Kou:Chinese regional theatre. The name is derived from the fact that it originated in Shaanxi Province and became popular throughout the region, and from the fact that it was sung while beating the beat on a wooden banjo made from dates. The name was derived from the fact that the singers sang while beating the beat with a wooden stick made of jujubes.
Sanmenxia is a prefecture-level city in the west of Henan Province, China. The westernmost prefecture-level city in Henan, Sanmenxia borders Luoyang to the east, Nanyang to the southeast, Shaanxi Province to the west and Shanxi Province to the north. Wikipedia
Label:女王唱片 Queen Records was established in 1948 and flourished between 1950 and 1970. Queen Records mainly introduced classical music from mainland China, bringing an abundance of musical information to Taiwan during the period of martial law and building a bridge of sound. This thesis uses relevant historical and political cases as well as fieldwork to fully document the impact of Queen's Records on Taiwan at that time, to describe how music students learnt through Queen's Records, and to write about the legend of Queen's Records; furthermore, with the advancement of technology and the advent of the digital age, the process of digitising Queen's Records was documented by Wang MingXi, so that they were no longer restricted by playback devices. The digitalisation of Queen's records by Wang MingXi is no longer limited by playback devices, but can be accessed via the Internet, allowing cultural relics to enter a generation that is not limited by space and time, and allowing future generations to enjoy the sounds of the times. Thanks Yoshio!

KAMAL EL MALAKH, DR. IBRAHIM AHMED & GAMAL SALAMA - THE STORY OF TUTANKHAMUN
The story of Tutankhamun, The Golden Pharaoh, son in law of the heretic king Akhenaten.... Written by Kamal El Malakh and translated in English by Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed, music composed by Gamal Salama....
Some of the oldest instruments known to man were employed in recording the musical score... These instruments now exist only as museum pieces... The exceptional instruments employed as well as the tune in the recording date as far back as the days of Traditional Egyptian Pharaonic musis, slowly becoming extinct nowadays.
What a cool album! This came out in 1973, comes with a lovely booklet with beautiful pictures and the story about discovering and excavating the tomb of Tutankhamun as told by Howard Carter who discovered and excavated the tomb with Lord Carnarvon and his daughter, Lady Evelyn Herbert in 1922.... Tutankhamun's life, what we know about it, is told also....
Takes me back to the early 80's, watching Egyptologist/historian John Romer's fantastic BBC series Ancient Lives which I watched again on Youtube some months ago, reading loads of books on the subject (philosopher Paul Brunton's beautiful book A Search In Secret Egypt comes to mind)....

CHRIS HINZE - FLUTE AND MANTRAS
Christiaan Herbert "Chris" Hinze (born June 30, 1938, Hilversum) is a Dutch jazz and New Age flautist.
Hinze initially performed publicly as a pianist until the mid-1960s, when he began studying flute at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and then at Berklee College of Music. As a pianist, he played with Boy Edgar until 1966, but by 1967 was playing flute professionally with the bassist Dick van der Capellen. His first releases as a leader were issued in 1969, and in 1970, Hinze was awarded the Best Soloist prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In the 1970s, he formed his own ensemble, the Chris Hinze Combination, which included players such as Gerry Brown and John Lee, and which saw some success with arrangements of Baroque music in a jazz setting. He also founded the record label Keytone Records in the mid-1970s.
In the 1980s, Hinze played for several years in a duo with Sigi Schwab and continued touring with a new version of his Combination. He began studying the music of Tibet and South Asia in the middle of the decade, forming a world music ensemble which shifted toward more New Age and electronic music styles rather than jazz.
Here's his 1980 album Flute And Mantras, recorded live at the Ellora caves in Aurangabad, India....
On the inner sleeve of this album we see Chris endorsing Sony walkman's.....
