Here's some beautiful music from the Minang area in Sumatera, on side A a pop Minang album from Band Salero with Lily Syarief and Yan Bastian and on the B side an album from the great blind troubadour Zulkarnian singing, howling and making all kinds of noises while playing the guitar, fantastic!!!
Here's a pop jaipong cassette from Benyamin S. .... Got some more tapes from him, they'll have to be cleaned and repaired so they'll be posted later sometime lah....
Saw that he died just before I went to sleep yesterday.... Gabi was the singer and co-founder, with Robert Görl, of the electronic band Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft. I've been a big fan of their work since I was around 15 years of age and if I had to make short list of say 10 albums that influenced me the most their first two albums Product Der Deutch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft and Die Kleinen und Die Bosen would be on that list (together with Metabolist's Hansten Klork, The Gang Of Four's Entertainment, the Black & White album from The Stranglers and Deceit from This Heat)....
So in honor of Gabi Delgado here's their fantastic album Die Kleine und Die Bosen.... Produced by the great Conny Plank, who, once, said nah thanks, not interested, when David Bowie asked him to work with him. He said the same thing to Bono :)
Rest In Peace Gabi Delgado-Lopez!!!!
You can find more from D.A.F./Gabi Delgado-Lopez at Jonny Zchivago's fantastic blog here: http://dieordiy2.blogspot.com/
Now, Benyamin Sueb did a whole bunch of albums together with singer, actor, comedian Eddy Sud, they all came out on cassette but I have a few of the promotional vinyls they made for radio stations.... If you're a producer looking for samples, better get your samplers out, some of these albums have lovely breaks etc on them..... Music for this album by Bartje van Houten....
Here's an album from Bob Tutupoly with the J. Company. I imagine the J stands for Jakarta as the album has an 80's Jakarta feel to it, some songs could come from a Fariz RM/Harry Sabar album from those days....
Fantastic cassette from Benyamin Sueb with the Beib Blues band, one funk banger after the other, it's just too bad this was never released on vinyl, only on cassette, and this is a bootleg copy....
Fantastic celempungan cassette from Emi Nurhayati. This is a promotional copy for radio stations, might be that this one was never really released, I've never seen an official version of this one. Unfortunately the B side has only music on one channel.....
