At that time, Yao Li's early voice was a deliberate imitation of the ‘big star Zhou Xuan’, as well as Dong Pei Pei, who was labelled ‘Little Zhou Xuan’, and who starred in the 1955 film ‘The Golden Voice’ based on Zhou Xuan's life, followed by singers such as Zhang Li-Min, Kong Lan-Hsun, and Yu Xuan, all of whom sounded similar to Zhou Xuan in terms of their singing.
