Lily Chao/Zhao Xiaojun (赵晓君), a famous Taiwanese singer, was born in 1948. Her real name is Zhao Lili (赵黎莉), and she graduated from the English Department of the Chinese Culture University. In the 1970s and 1980s, she was one of the most popular singers in Taiwan and was known as the ‘Student Lover’. At the age of 19, Zhao took a break from school to sing in an opera house due to family changes, and was later introduced by the opera house to sing in Singapore, where she was warmly welcomed by the local audience. Because of her popularity in Singapore, she was invited back to Taiwan to sing at the ‘Group Star Festival’, and became an idol loved by thousands of fans.
