NANYIN MUSIC, JADE AND HARMONY OF VOICE

Well, I'm just going to copy-paste what our friend Yoshio said about this record: The immigrants from the Central Plains in the two Han, Jin, Tang, and Song dynasties brought music culture into the southern Fujian region centred on Quanzhou and fused it with local folk music, forming a form of cultural expression with the legacy of ancient music from the Central Plains. Nanyin originated in the Tang Dynasty and was formed in the Song Dynasty. The singing style of Nanyin retains the traditional and ancient folk singing style before the Tang Dynasty, and its singers and players are extremely casual in their second creation, while the performance of Nanyin pipes also maintains the characteristics of the Tang and Song Dynasties. Nanyin, also known as "String Pipe" and "Quanzhou Nanyin", is the traditional music of the southern Fujian Province, and is a world-class intangible cultural heritage. Nanyin is known as the "living fossil in the history of Chinese music", originated in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, and is sung in Minnan language, which is the oldest surviving ancient Han music in China. Thanks Yoshio! GET IT HERE Enjoy!
