SONIA ROSA - GOLDEN BOSSA NOVA
Sonia Angelica De Carvalho Rosa is a Brazilian-born singer and songwriter living in Japan, she was born in 1949 in São Paulo and here's a lovely bossa nova album from here recorded in the studios of EMI's Tokyo associate Toshiba Musical Industries and this album came out in 1969.... On this one she was working with Shunichi Makaino, Kunihiko Suzuki, Akio Miyazawa and the Sadao Watanabe Quartet....

ReplyDeleteShe was born into a wealthy family. His father, Olavo, was a famous horse jockey.She began playing the guitar at the age of six and honed his musicality by learning the music of João Gilberto. After graduating from junior high school, she began writing lyrics, and at the age of 18 he won a prize in a popular music competition in Rio.
She met Lisa Ono's father, Toshiro Ono, who ran the nightclub “Ichiban” in Sao Paulo, and on Ono's recommendation, he went to Japan in 1969 as an invited singer for the Osaka Expo. At the time, bossa nova was in decline in Brazil, but was well-liked in Japan.
After appearing on the TV program “Music Fair,” she was invited to record with saxophone player Sadao Watanabe's Quartet, and joined Watanabe on a national tour performance . Produced by Watanabe, the band made its Japanese debut in 1970. She performed her singing voice under Watanabe's performance at live houses. She hit it off with Yuji Ohno, who was playing piano on the days when Watanabe could not appear. Ohno has used Sonia for many TV themes and commercial music, and has also released an album. She also made regular appearances on the TV program “Eleven PM,” Ohashi Kioizumi's radio program, and Fuji Television's “Night Show,” and wrote the theme music for the TV drama “Harukanasaka” and Japanese songs .
In 1971, she was chosen to open the Shinjuku music restaurant “Green Green” and married the restaurant's owner, but later remarried another businessman .
After the late 80's, she devoted herself to raising her children, but with the growing reevaluation of her musicality, she returned to the Japanese music scene in 2006 with the album “Depois do nosso tempo,” produced by her own son, DJ TARO.
She lives with her husband in a luxurious house in Meguro with a Ferrari Testarossa as her favorite car.
