LES PAUL & MARY FORD 78's
Here are four INCREDIBLE 78's from the great Les Paul and Mary Ford, amazing stuff.... I recorded this first on wavelab, then tried to find the right speed with Fruity Loops, it;s easy when there's singing but it can be pretty hard with instrumentals so I hope I've got the speed right.... Personally, Les Paul blows my mind! Got my hands on a whole bunch of 78's, stuff from the 30's and 40's by Dizzy Gillespie, Dinah Shore, Artie Shaw, Lionel Hampton, Count Basie and a whole lot of Indonesian ones. Will post those soon too!!!

KIEM
Kiem was a Dutch band from my city of birth, Rotterdam, active from 1982 till 1987. I don't know how many times I've seen them live, quiet a few times and they were always great live. The members were Huub Kentie – Synthesizers & Vocals, Ger ‘Sax’ van Voorden – Tenor Saxophone and the incredible Cees ‘IJzermans’ Meurs who played drums on a drum kit that was made out of all kinds of pieces of metal. I saw Cees once live, playing together with Dutch jazz drummer Han Bennink and there are just no words to describe how great a performance that was.... Ger van Voorden later left the band and was replaced by Jos Valster....
Way back I had a friend, John, who always went with them on tour as a roadie and he would always come back with the wildest stories, those guys were always touring all over Europe, specially Italy where they had quiet a following....
Here's their website: kiemrotterdam.nl
They put out three albums and I'll upload 'em, not my rips though....

BAND THE CRABS - PENGANTIN REMADJA
In the 70's one of old dictator Suharto's kids, Bambang Tri had a band, I've got no idea what he played, they put out two albums that you can find elsewhere on this blog. They hired some of the top producers and musicians of that time, A. Ryanto, Idris Sardi, Broery Marantika among them. Here's a 7" taken from one of those albums, pop songs. Check out the fourth song, Surat Romie, it's hilarious really, a guy reading his letter to the girl he's breaking up with, coolly telling her that with time she'll be ok, he's not running away but walking away calmly knowing she will be alright, meanwhile the girl is crying all over the song, really it's hilarious and I don't know if they were serious making this song or if it was meant as a joke....

BORIS BLACHTER - ABSTRAKTE OPER
Boris Blacher (19 January [O.S. 6 January] 1903 – 30 January 1975) was a German composer.
Blacher was born when his parents were living within a Russian-speaking community in the Manchurian town of Niuzhuang (Chinese: 牛庄镇) (hence the use of the Julian calendar on his birth record). He spent his first years in China and in the Asian parts of Russia, and in 1919, he eventually came to live in Harbin. In 1922, after finishing school, he went to Berlin where he began to study architecture and mathematics. Two years later, he turned to music and studied composition with Friedrich Ernst Koch.
His career was interrupted by National Socialism. He was accused of writing degenerate music and lost his teaching post at the Dresden Conservatory.
His career resumed after 1945, and he later became director of the Music Academy of Berlin, and is today regarded as one of the most influential music figures of his time. His students include Aribert Reimann, Isang Yun, Maki Ishii, Fritz Geißler, Giselher Klebe, Heimo Erbse, Klaus Huber, Francis Burt, Gottfried von Einem, Karl Rucht, Kalevi Aho and Richard Wernick.
Blacher was married to the pianist Gerty Blacher-Herzog. They had four children including the German actress Tatjana Blacher and the international violinist Kolja Blacher. He died in Berlin at the age of 72.
