Leaves type II: floating leaves alternate, spinning stacked mosaic arranged on the water surface, rosette, leaf blade compressed orbicular rhombic or broadly rhombic, the upper and middle parts are serrated, the midstalk has an inflated air sac, the submerged leaves are small, early fall. Flowers small, solitary in leaf axils, white. Nut geniculate, with 4 recurved horns, often red.
