  2. More about Harp in Taiwan
(No No Not Benjamin Fulford thing)

The modern history of music in Taiwan is marked by a watershed before and after the Restoration. During the Japanese colonial era, Taiwan was deeply influenced by Japanese colonialism, and most of Taiwan's musicians of the previous generation were inspired by the sacred music of the Church on the one hand, and actively studied music in Japan on the other. After the restoration of Taiwan, politics influenced the ecology of Taiwanese music, and the choice of political stance gave most musicians a very different fate.
The harmonica was introduced to Japan as a result of the Meiji Restoration's frequent contacts with Europe and the United States, and after many modifications, it was introduced to Taiwan along with the colonisation. Therefore, exploring the history of the harmonica in Taiwan is actually the same as exploring the modern history of Taiwan, because the harmonica has also travelled through that era.
The establishment of the Harmonica Orchestra of Treasure Island is not only to promote harmonica music and perpetuate Taiwanese songs, but also to have the opportunity to collate the history of the harmonica in Taiwan. This is a huge undertaking and one that is difficult to imagine. However, while the harmonica community is actively seeking recognition, harmonica players should also have a systematic understanding of their own history and evolution, so that they can identify themselves first before they can have the confidence to maintain their value of existence. Therefore, the search for the roots of the harmonica's history in Taiwan is an important event that should be initiated and carried out. I hope that the pioneers in the harmonica world will have the opportunity to join in this endeavour. Let us understand the past of the harmonica and pass on the future of the harmonica. "History must not be forgotten, and experience must be learnt", so that we can bridge the gap between each other and work together towards a better future.

  5. Which is more realistic: the chance to meet a ninja in Japan
or the chance to hear a gamban kromon in Jakarta?

  6. I fought a ninja once!!! Well.... maybe not.... Back when I was still doing jiu jitsu we had a Dutch guy training with us. He was doing nin-jitsu, what they advertise in Holland as "ninja training". He was incredibly arrogant, kept saying that we were all softies because we trained on a mat and he had no skills whatsoever. He came a few times, every time behaving like that and my sensei got really irritated and told me to go HARD on this guy, so I did. Just regular training but a bit harder then usual. Never saw him again :)
Not sure how easy it would be to watch gambang kromong in Jakarta.... Most of the real Betawi people were driven out many years ago, all those beautiful old neighborhoods with small gangs and little rivers have been paved over and are now malls and office building.... The old Jakarta that Tjalie Robinson (Vincent Mahieu) wrote such beautiful books about.... From what I've read most of them moved to places liked Tanggeran, Bekasi, Bogor....

  7. The Ruang volcano erupted and there was a magnitude 6 earthquake in Japan.
The world echoes each other (in a bad way).
If you find a picture of a man who looks like a fake Dutch ninja, let me know.

I also remember playing against a fake Johan Cruyff.

Tomorrow we will spend all day exploring Tjalie Robinson online. Thank you.
