Teruo Yoda, a popular tenor player during the post-war jazz boom, died on 5 June 2011. Aged 85, he was born on 3 January 1926. While a student at Waseda University, he played in the student band together with Nakamura Hachidai and Charlie Ishiguro. Shortly after the war, he joined the Toho Symphony Orchestra and played with ‘Matsuniro Higashi and the Asmanians’ in 1948, then ‘Hachiro Matsui and the Tokyo Jive’ and ‘Osamu Tada and the Gay Stars’ in 1949, before forming his own band ‘Teruo Yoda and the Six Lemons’ (Frankie Sakai on drums) in October 1951. The band dominated the scene as a popular band alongside George Kawaguchi and the Bic Fords and Susumu Watanabe and the Six Joes. Thanks https://rifftide.exblog.jp/13324132/
